Handler vs. Hatch

A buyer's guide for HVAC contractors · Pricing verified July 2026

Every tool on this list waits for customers to visit your website and type. Handler answers your phone — because when an AC dies at 9pm in South Florida, nobody opens a chat widget. They call.

Hatch at a glance

AI CSR platform (voice, SMS, email) for home services — the closest true competitor.

Pricing (verified July 2026): Quote-gated, three tiers. Operator-reported $600–$900/mo (platform fee plus usage), with reports up to $1,500/mo. Annual commitment, billed per location. One Capterra reviewer: “$900 a month” that “basically did the same things we already do with ServiceTitan.”

Hatch validated this category: AI agents that answer calls, chase leads, and book jobs for home-service companies. If you're evaluating Hatch, you already believe what we believe. Three things to weigh:

1. Focus. Hatch is built broad — roofing, windows, remodeling, solar, HVAC — with heavy emphasis on outbound lead rehash for companies buying 1,000-lead batches from Angi and Modernize. Handler is built narrow: the inbound service call for licensed AC contractors, with trade-specific triage (refrigerant-line icing vs. a tripped breaker vs. a gas smell are different priorities with different scripts) and trade-specific guardrails (no diagnosis, no price quotes, no card numbers by voice).

2. Ownership of the lead source. Hatch was acquired by Yelp. When your AI vendor also sells you leads, its incentives around which lead sources get the fastest follow-up are no longer neutral. Handler doesn't sell leads — every call gets the same treatment because we have no reason to prefer one source.

3. Commitment. Hatch quotes annual contracts at operator-reported $600–$1,500/mo, and reviewers flag the exit terms. Handler: $99/month flat — unlimited calls and minutes, no per-seat or per-resolution meters. Month to month, first 30 days free.

When Hatch is the right choice

High-volume outbound rehash across many purchased-lead sources, especially in verticals beyond HVAC.

What Handler is not

Handler is not a reputation-management platform, not a review-request tool, not a mass-texting suite, and not a CRM. If you need those, several vendors on this list do them well — and Handler works alongside them.
